History

The Dernoshek Racing story dates back to the 1960’s when Warren Dernoshek started working for the legendary Yenko Chevrolet in Canonsburg, PA. The story continues today with Warren's son Logan taking over the reigns and providing the same quality and winning performance that the Dernoshek team has had for over 55 years.

Warren Dernoshek – Warren began his automotive career like many young men in the 50s; modifying and rebuilding his street car to maximize performance and speed. He started working for Yenko Chevrolet in Canonsburg PA in the 1960’s. Warren was an integral part of Yenko Sports Cars; building the Yenko Stinger Corvairs, the Yenko Camaro’s, Chevelle’s and working on the race team. While with Yenko, Warren won (as part of the team) the 24 hrs of Daytona, 12 hrs of Sebring, 6 hrs of the Glen and the Citrus 250 at Daytona amongst other races.

When he wasn’t working at Yenko, Warren was building and campaigning his own stock car at circle tracks like Heidelberg Speedway, Clinton Speedway, Cincinnati Motor Speedway and others. After a bad crash ended his driving career, Warren owned and built cars, built engines, and helped other teams through the 70s and 80s. His greatest challenge began in the 1990’s when his son Logan started racing.

Warren has guided or been involved with every step of Logan's journey from go-karting, to dirt emods, NASCAR Late Models, Hooters ProCup, ASA Late Models, Super Late Models and now vintage sports car racing. He continues to be involved by building engines for our own race cars as well as other customers, in addition to providing his expertise and guidance.

Logan Dernoshek – Logan has been a car guy literally all his life. The story is that he took apart his tricycle when he was 3 years old. Being three, he wasn’t quite capable of putting it back together yet. He hadn’t started playing with Legos and learning to assemble things quite yet. Fortunately, he had a great teacher to help him put it back together.

Growing up around cars, racing and everything motorized affirmed his love affair with automobiles early on. Logan started racing go-karts at age 13 and found great success over the next 3 years on both dirt and asphalt ovals. He moved up through the ranks of racing from go-karts to dirt e-mods, NASCAR Late Models and Hooters ProCup; winning races and finding success along the way. While making his climb through the ranks of motorsports, Logan also went to college and got a mechanical engineering degree. In 2008, Logan was introduced to vintage sports car racing and immediately fell in love with it. Since then, he has competed in several events a year with Warren by his side (and under the hood).

In 2020, Logan decided that he was going to leverage his racing, hands on mechanical, engineering, project management, and business expertise to create Dernoshek Racing & Restoration. An old school speed shop that provides excellent service to vintage racers and performance enthusiasts.
